Impressive watch….works as advertised. Looks good as a techno watch, but also is distinguished enough to wear out to work or dinner. Casio has really upped their game with this line of watch.Richard, Amazon customer

The ultimate G-Shock experience has just been revealed. The Japanese version of the G-Shock MTG-G1000D is the watch so badly wanted by every Casio / G-Shock fan. It comes with an impressive size and look that definitely turns heads. While this beast is capable of resisting some of the worst treatments possible for a watch its appearance paradoxically matches formal environments turning in an imposing piece of jewelry on the lucky beholder’s wrist. This is no longer “just a watch”, rather it is a work of art and craftsmanship which creates status and requires an owner aware of what the watch is capable of.
The construction is tough with a case and bracelet mainly made of brushed high-quality stainless steel with certain reinforcement resin parts on the sides and in the interior part of the band. The composite bracelet is a smart choice regarding both the feel on the wrist and the overall toughness of the watch. The dial window is made using the best material available on the market at the moment; a thick sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating for best resistance to shocks and other hazards.
When speaking about the functions of the watch, there are a lot of things to be said. The tough solar system assures that you will never run out of battery as long as you expose the watch to light at least once every 6 months. The Triple G Resist feature is yet another exclusive feature only available on top of the line G-Shocks like on the Gravity Master GPW-1000-1A. This feature is more of a design characteristic since it assures that the watch will resist shocks including gravitational, centrifugal and vibration forces. You can see how they tested the watch against these forces in the video at the bottom of the page.
The GPS Hybrid Wave Receptor together with the Radio Reception system ensures an accurate time wherever you go. Simply put, you won’t have to deal with any kind of configurations or worry that your watch is not accurate. Since this watch has so many advanced features that might affect sophisticated equipment on airplanes, this G-Shock features an airplane mode that shuts down the radio reception and GPS system.
The feel on the wrist is quite significant since this is a nearly 200 grams watch at a thickness of 17 mm. Thanks to the larger footprint of this G-Shock, the weight which otherwise would have been significant redistributes very well making it feel like a normal watch. However, this means that you will have to pass through an accommodation period if you never had big watches before. Generally speaking, in a week or two, you will become used to its size and weight. Also as said in the beginning, the composite bracelet was a smart choice regarding the comfort on the wrist and also adds up to the toughness of the watch. The locking system uses a pretty standard clasp that is not size-adjustable.
The illumination is fine as you can see in the above image. It uses an LED backlight of a light blue tone which ensures good visibility in most dark situations, backed up by luminous index hands and hour markers. Don’t expect from these hands to glow in the dark as on a dive watch because they may disappoint you. This is a 660 feet water resistant watch however it is not specifically a diving watch so the illumination was not designed specifically for this scenario.
The screw down crown is not an ordinary one, as Casio calls it the Smart Access Crown, it is protected by two chunks of stainless steel and makes configuration of the watch’s complex features a pleasure. Basically, on the G-Shock MTG-G1000D-1A2JF, the main Crown works in conjunction with the other three buttons on the sides. It is not so easy to figure it out straight after the unboxing, yet, after you get the hang of it, you will love the way this watch works in terms of configuration.
Finally, I have to say that this is an impressive watch altogether. Forget the Rolexes or the Breitlings. With the G-Shock MTG-G1000D, you will get to a whole new level that even those famous companies can’t reach. The experience with this watch is truly unique not only due to its imposing design but also thanks to the exclusive features that only Casio knows how to manufacture. I highly recommend the G-Shock MTG-G1000D-1A2JF for those looking to get the top of the line G-Shock manufactured by Japanese watch masters.
