With the G-Steel line, Casio wants to offer a better G-Shock experience in terms of style, design and also toughness. The case of the watch is no longer all plastic but rather a smart combination of stainless steel and resin which create the so-called “layer guard structure”. It is supposed that this structure offers a good resistance to all sorts of shocks because the resin in conjunction with the stainless steel actions as a buffer that absorbs the power of the impact. In tests, it seems that Casio’s structure is extremely well implemented. They scored big right from the first implementations and that is a thing to admire about Casio.
The only thing to be aware of is that the brushed stainless steel bezel can be chipped or scratched if the impact is fierce.
Saying about the G-Shock GSTS110-1A that it is shock resistant and about the G-Shock line, in general, is redundant. The mineral crystal window, besides its toughness it is also guarded by the thick stainless steel bezel which will easily absorb all major shocks. The dial is nice and not over crowded with two index hands which also have luminous paint on top and three digital subdials for various functions.
While the number of features is notable on this watch, I won’t be getting into detail on this topic. The standard features like the stopwatch and countdown timer work as expected although the 60-minute stopwatch is a little too low for a model of this quality. The world time feature lets you easily swap between time zones and major cities without looking after the local time on other watches and the 660 feet water resistance assures that the watch will resist the highest depths possible. Other than that, the self-solar charging system is a no brainer because it helps eliminate the worry of swapping batteries over and over.
The visibility of the watch in dark situations shouldn’t be a concern since the watch features two LED backlights for both the dial and the small digital displays. And on top of that, the index hands feature luminescent paint. This will assure that you will be able to read the hour during nighttime, underwater or other dark situations.
In the image below, you can see how the illumination works.
Remember that this is a thick watch that will be quite significant on your wrist. Its presence, however, will be a delight after you get used to it. It is stunningly beautiful and catches the eye of many people. It is a new appearance on the market and starts to already be well known among both regular customers and watch collectors.
If you are impressed by the beauty of this watch and you are looking for the famous G-Shock features that defined the watch as more than a time telling accessory, then the G-Shock G-Steel GSTS110-1A might be a smart choice for you.
