It's the best watch for the woman that looks for sportswear-inspired toughness, without losing the modern style. It's both a fashion accessory and a reliable tool for challenging occasions.
If you’re a woman and don’t own a G-Shock already, the fault is on you. Even though they’re rugged and tough, withstanding the long time and heavy-duty use, the G-Shock women don’t compromise on the looks either.
What’s the story with G-Shock watches?
Anyone into watches knows that having a watch that handles the excessive wear and challenging conditions is essential. But it was the duty of Casio engineers to create that kind of watch. Somewhere in the 80s (1983 for more accuracy), Kiko Ibe, a Casio engineer created the first model of G-Shock watches. Able to take a 32ft fall, the “Gravitational Shock” watch ever created came with water resistance to 10 bar and included a 10-year battery life. In all fairness, it took a lot of dedication for him to create this amazingly rugged watch. Kiko built two hundred prototypes until he finally got the results he wanted.
The G-Shock series are made for taking the mechanical shock and vibration. Even if it’s mostly for outdoors, sports or military-related activities, anyone can wear a G-Shock.
Most models are digital, but you can go with one that includes both digital and analog display.
As the G-Shock watches are a bit on the heavy weight and large size, Casio designed a line for women and people with smaller wrists too. It’s how the Baby-G series was born in 1991. The watches within the ling are 70% the size of a G-Shock.
To this day, any watch aficionado may have the DW-5000C into his watch collection.
What are the similar features on G-Shock watches?
All current Casio G-Shock watches include shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance. Many models include daily or multiple alarms, EL or LED backlight, world time, countdown timer, button tone on/off, adjustable hourly time signal, stopwatch, auto calendar, button tone on/off and 12/24 hour time format.
Some of the basic models don’t include generic features such as several alarms with snooze alarms, button tone on/off or world time.
You can find G-Shock watches with amazingly useful functions such as Tough Solar power (so they’re chargeable by the sun or fluorescent lighting) and Multi-Band 6 (automatic time calibration via radio wave reception).
The watches within the high-end series (Master of G line is one of them) also include the Triple Sensor (altimeter, compass, barometer, and thermometer). Let’s not forget to mention the Bluetooth mobile link which is standard in mid-range and high-end models. This function allows the watch to sync the time using the Internet.
The stainless steel case, the hardened mineral glass watch crystal, the floating module, and the urethane rubber bumper are also on the list of standard features.
What is the G-Shock series?
Casio released the first G-Shock S Series in 2015. Ever since that year, new models were designed and launched over the years.
The series addresses the smaller wrists of women, but it also includes models that have a unisex appearance. Therefore, boys and men with smaller wrists may try one of them when the GA-1GMA-S120MF-2ACR watches feel too big.
Designed for the fashion forward woman that looks for a sportswear-inspired roughness to add to her modern style, while appreciating the advanced technology and accuracy in watches, the new S Series impresses with the looks and functions.
Casio recently released the all-new G-Shock S Series in Asia. The GMA-S 120 is, in fact, a smaller alternative to the G-Shock GA-120.
The first series is the GMA-S120MF, and it comes with monotone matte colors and metallic details on the face. The result is a tough, yet stylishly looking watch.
The new models include the GMA-120 MF-1A (black, GMA-S120MF-4A (light pink with a rose gold face), GMA-S120MF-2A (Light blue), GMA-S120MF-7A2 (white with a rose gold face) and GMA-S120MF-7A1 (white with a silver face).
All models within the GMA-120 line feature 200-meter water resistance, auto LED light with afterglow, 1/1000 second stopwatch, five daily alarms with one snooze alarm, 24-hour countdown timer, world time watch (48 cities+ UTC), 12/24 hour format, hourly time signal, and 3-year battery life. Needless to say, they all come with shock resistance feature.
What are the specifications for GMA-S120MF-2ACR?
The GMA-S120MF-2ACR comes with resin case/bezel material and resin band that takes the use for a long time, without its color fading. The Shock resistance, mineral glass, 200-meter water resistance are on the list, for obvious reasons.
The LED light is going to make the reading easy. The watch comes with the Auto light watch, selectable illumination duration (1.5seconds or 3 seconds) and afterglow function as well.
You always know the time, no matter where you are in the world as the watch includes 29 time zones (48 cities+ coordinated universal time), world time city swapping/home city.
You may select from the several measuring modes (elapsed time, lap time, split time) and use the 1/1000-second stopwatch. Some may find the countdown timer, distance input, and speed (0 to 1998 units/hour) helpful too.
The countdown range is 24 hours, whereas the countdown starts time setting range is between1 minute to 24 hours (it has 1-minute increments and 1-hour increments).
You may set no more than five daily alarms (you also have one snooze alarm) and a full auto-calendar. The hourly time signal function may become handy at times, whereas the 12/24-hour format allows more versatility.
The watch includes both analog (2 hands for an hour and minute and one dial for speed), and digital (for an hour, second, pm, month, date and day).
The precision is impressive: +/- seconds per month.
What’s the verdict?
Even if some may find it a bit tricky to read the markings, the watch still makes an excellent impression with its looks and functions.
The size is right, and the watch is relatively easy to set it up. It comes in attractive color combinations, and its appearance is always going to help you stand out.
