Suunto is a Finnish company which specializes in manufacturing some of the best outdoors watches on the market. While some may not know, Suunto has an experience of almost 100 years since it was founded in 1936. So that is one of the reasons why it competes so well with traditional Japanese companies like Casio with its ProTrek line, Citizen, etc.
The Suunto Elementum Terra represents the premium outdoors watch with a modern look and design featuring an all-digital display with powerful illumination and all the good stuff with which Suunto already made a name for themselves.
While Suunto emphasizes on creating stylish outdoors watches the thickness on the Elementum Terra is quite noticeable. That is not to say that it is uncomfortably thick but it will definitely take some time to accommodate if you never had big watches before.
However, there is one thing at which the Suunto Elementum Terra doesn’t really shine and that would be durability. While it will most certainly resist through any regular outdoors activities, when smashed or scratched the watch will fail. All I say is that this is not a G-Shock. If you know for sure that resistance is your top priority when it comes to deciding on an outdoors watch then you might want to look somewhere else, maybe for a ProTrek or a G-Shock.
Overall Suunto as a company and the Elementum Terra, in particular, are great choices when looking for top of the line watches for an outstanding outdoors experience. The price might be a little overwhelming for some but I definitely recommend the investment as a long term one.
