Most G-Shock fans know the DW 5600 very well. It is one of the first largely known G-Shocks that became so famous that the exact same design is still used know after 20+ years on the remastered versions of the watch. The version we are talking about in this review is the DW 5600BB which is different just by its coloring/design from the original model.
As you may already know, Japanese versions of G-Shocks are always kind of weird, coming with all sorts of different colorings and variations regarding the design. People who want a drop of weirdness and unicity on their watches always look for them and treat them as collection timepieces. Not to say that these versions are kind of rare thus retaining value over time quite well.
The all-black design is no joke; even the clasp which is made of metal has been painted to match the rest of the watch. The only thing colored differently is the backlight which is light blue.
This is the type of watch that you can set once and then never do it again but still a very bugging thing about this watch is represented by the stiff buttons for configuration. These are so hard to press that it makes your fingers hurt. The only beneficial thing about this is when an unintentional press occurs.
The contrast of the display is not one of the best out there, but it is certainly visible during daylight and most bright situations. Another thing worth mentioning about the display is that it pops different screens for every major feature while configuring it. Since the display is not as large as on other G-Shocks, this had to be implemented so things can be visible on the screen. For the main screen, the default configuration shows the time with hour, minutes and seconds the day of the week and date. By pressing the left down button, the alarm screen will show up, and consecutively the timer, stopwatch and back to home screen.
The experience with this watch proved to be good on most occasions. It is precise, it has those features like the alarm clock the stopwatch and others which are of daily use, it feels good on the hand, so good that you will forget you wear it. It looks great and occasionally turns heads; many people will ask about it. It is true it has some flaws but that is to be expected from an entry level watch. Overall I highly recommend the G-Shock DW 5600BB to everyone looking for a stylish yet resistant watch to improve their everyday experience.
