In order to start off this review fairly especially for the newer ProTreks like the ProTrek Manaslu PRX-8000T or at least, the somewhat modern looking PRW-3500, PRW-3000, PAG-240, etc. it needs to be stated that the looks of the PAW 1500 are simply put, old. I know it sounds kind of rough but old is not necessarily bad. I find it to be quite appealing in the sense that it brings up some memories of the old Casio watches. And for some customers, this may even be a shootout term. Who knows? What is important though is that this watch still is as actual as it may ever be, coming to the table with some interesting features and an intuitive layout.

Casio ProTrek PAW1500-1V Review-4

The display is pretty simple and clean. This means that it is not fragmented and it is visible at a glance both during the day and night, thanks to the Auto Electroluminescent Backlight. Other than that the small dot on the upper left part of the display represents the moon phase indicator.

While I consider that all features are important, for the avid outdoors person the Triple Sensor is a nice innovation. Although this ProTrek incorporates an older version of the Triple Sensor, the readings of the sensors are still somewhat precise, or at least, they have an estimative value.

I explained in my previous reviews what the Triple Sensor is and how it works. Long story short the altimeter offers readings of the altitude you are positioned at on a certain moment based on a reference point set by you, the barometer tells you the barometric pressure with which you can make weather predictions, and the digital compass helps you know where is north.

Casio ProTrek PAW1500-1V Review

The point where I consider this watch is a performer is the fit on the wrist. The size is neither too big nor too small and the weight is very well distributed along the case. While the materials are pretty cheap, wearing it, at least, is a pleasure. You will most likely even forget you are wearing it.

Casio ProTrek PAW1500-1V Review-1

The ProTrek PAW1500 is an outdoors watch that concentrates on delivering a great experience at least when speaking of its functionality and reliability. It’s true that there are some cons that I enumerated above, but those are kind of subjective anyway. That is why choosing between the PAW1500 and other ProTreks is more a matter of taste.
